Following OnePlus, Oppo has started rolling out the ColorOS 16 beta, which is based on Android 16. Users eager to experience the upcoming interface can now register for the beta program by completing a short questionnaire.
ColorOS 16 Beta Availability
The ColorOS 16 beta is currently available for select Oppo smartphones, including the Oppo X8, Find X8 Pro, and Oppo Reno 14. The beta rollout is limited to users in India, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
How to Apply for ColorOS 16 Beta
To apply for the ColorOS 16 beta program:
- Open the Settings app on your eligible device.
- Tap on About device > tap the area at the top of the screen.
- Click the menu button in the top-right corner.
- You’ll now see an option for the Closed Beta Program. Fill out your details and tap Apply Now.
Once your application is approved, return to the Update settings section and tap Download Now to install the update.
Important Notes Before Updating
- Applications for the beta program are open from October 9 to October 13.
- The official ColorOS 16 launch in China is scheduled for October 15, with the Oppo Find X9 debuting globally as the first device to run the new UI.
- Make sure your device is running one of the following software versions before applying:
- CPH2737_15.0.2.602(EX01)
- CPH2737_15.0.2.502(EX01)
- Ensure your device has at least 30% battery and enough storage space.
- Back up all important data before installation.
After updating, users might experience temporary heating, battery drain, or lag as the system optimizes itself in the background. Since this is a beta release, minor bugs, app crashes, and compatibility issues may also occur.

ColorOS 16 aims to deliver smoother animations, enhanced multitasking, and richer customization options. Leaked screenshots suggest major improvements such as:
- Lock screen customization with support for widgets, personalized text, and a new Flux theme.
- AI-powered features and enhanced home screen controls, including resizable icons and expandable widgets.
- Upgraded Always-On Display and new fingerprint animations, promising a more refined user experience.
