Google has introduced a new experimental Windows app aimed at making it easier for users to quickly find what they need. With a simple Alt + Space shortcut, the tool lets people search through computer files, installed apps, Google Drive documents, and even the web.
The app functions much like Mac’s Spotlight search, providing fast access to both local and online content.
Available through Search Labs, Google’s program for testing early-stage features, the app also includes Google Lens. This allows users to highlight anything on their screen—whether it’s text, images, or equations—and instantly search, translate, or get assistance, such as solving math problems.
In addition, the app offers an AI Mode, where users can ask more complex, multi-step questions and receive detailed answers. Search results can be filtered by category, including images, shopping, and videos, with a dark mode option also available.
Currently, the app is available in English, limited to U.S. users, and requires a PC running Windows 10 or later.
