Telecom giant Reliance Jio has updated the prices of its prepaid recharge plans that include complimentary Netflix subscriptions. According to a report by The Hindu, the revised plans are now priced at ₹1,299 and ₹1,799, compared to the previous rates of ₹1,099 and ₹1,499, respectively. The ₹1,299 plan comes with a Netflix Mobile subscription, while the ₹1,799 plan provides a Netflix Basic subscription.
The ₹1,299 plan allows users to stream Netflix content on a single mobile device or tablet, with a maximum video resolution of 480p. In contrast, the ₹1,799 plan offers access to Netflix on multiple devices, including smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and laptops, with video streaming quality of up to 720p.
Both of these Jio prepaid plans come with an 84-day validity period, providing customers with a three-month Netflix subscription with each recharge. In addition to the Netflix subscription, these plans also include unlimited voice calls, unlimited 5G data (depending on 5G availability in the user’s area), and 100 SMS messages per day.
The ₹1,299 and ₹1,799 Jio prepaid plans offer 2GB and 3GB of daily high-speed data, respectively. Once users reach the daily data limit, they can still access the internet at reduced speeds of 64Kbps.
This change follows a broader trend among Indian telecom companies, who have been raising their prepaid and postpaid tariffs earlier this year. Jio’s updated prices, effective from July 3, mirror similar moves by rivals Vodafone Idea (Vi) and Airtel, who also increased their rates for both prepaid and postpaid services.
Reliance Jio continues to lead India’s telecom market in both mobile and fixed-line segments, with a total user base of 481.8 million, including 108 million 5G subscribers and 12 million fixed broadband subscribers, according to the report.
